Allen Thomas Shutters, 74, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran and lifetime member of VFW Post 3281 in New Albany.
He was born on May 12, 1948, in New Albany to Marshall and Mary (Garvin) Shutters. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his siblings, Phyllis Hogan, Charles, Harold, Donnie Shutters, Jenny Wingarten; and step-daughter, Dannette Flaherty.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Janet (Stell) Shutters; siblings, Richard, Ray, and Virgil Shutters, Marilyn Roley, and Barbara Poe; sisters-in-law, Janan Absher and Tina Stell; nephews, James and David Absher; nieces, Deanna Newill and Melissa Fettner; many nieces and nephews from the Shutters family; several great-nieces and -nephews; and fur babies, Sunny and Rusty.
Tom's wish was to be cremated, and Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) was entrusted with his care. He will be laid to rest privately in Glasgow, Kentucky.
