Allen J. Jones, 89, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
He was born on September 23, 1934, in Nutbush, Tennessee to Timothy and Mildora (Clark) Jones. He is preceded in death by his Father, Timothy Jones, Mother, Mildora Jones, along with his siblings, Bishop Charlie Jones, Doris D. Jones (Roberts), James H. Jones, Allie M. Jones, Callie M. Jones, Jessie L. Jones, Johnny F. Jones, Leonard Jones, Iona Jones (Avery), and Betty J. Jones (Henning).
Allen had a third grade education because he had to help his dad with sharecropping.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Carrie M. (Maxwell)Jones in 1957. Allen had eight children. He worked for American Synthetic Rubber Company in 1959 and retired in 1975. He was also an excellant auto mechanic and a very creative and talented person gifted by God.
Allen was baptized in the name of Jesus and received the Holy Ghost in 1981 under the leadership of the late Bishop Robert L. Little at Christ Temple Apostolic Church. He changed his membership and served as a Deacon at New Jerusalem Apostolic Church under the late Bishop Harry L. Smith and was a member of Newburg Apostolic Church under the leadership of the late Elder Waverly Holland before his transitioning.
He leaves to cherish his memory four sisters: Geraldine Newbill, Athean Nance, Shirley M. Gibbs, Mary L. Smith, two sister-in-laws, Deloris Y. (Bonnie) Jones, and Mary Jones, seven sons, Roy Lee Smith, Melvin L. Jones, Allen G. Jones, Rodney C. (Marrissa) Jones Sr., Lanny D. Jones Sr., Brian M. (Mozell) Jones, Darron L. (Angela) Jones, Sr., and one daughter, Tonya R. Jones, thirteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Newburg Apostolic Church, (4817 E. Indian Trail). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, at Newburg Apostolic Church with burial to follow at Green Meadows Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
