Allen Paul Donner

June 13, 1949 — June 22, 2024

ALLEN PAUL DONNER, 75, of New Albany, Indiana passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Autumn Woods Health Campus. He attended Holy Family grade school, and was a 1967 graduate of Our Lady of Providence High school. There he met his wife, Rosie. Together they raised three beautiful daughters while celebrating nearly 56 years of marriage. After graduation, Allen joined the Air Force, and proudly served his country for 4 years during the Vietnam War. His parents instilled in him a strong devotion to the Catholic faith. As an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish for over 40 years, he wore many hats. This included serving on the parish council, facilitating on the parish's Men’s Club (where he worked many fish frys), and volunteering during mass as an usher. Allen shared his faith and charity through the honor as a third degree emblem in the JFK Knights of Columbus Counsel #1221. His passion for work was demonstrated as he chose to “come out of retirement”, several different times. He was a hard working salesman, selling for PPG Porter Paint, shuttled elderly individuals as a driver for Lifespan Resources, and never hesitated to help a friend in need. An avid sportsman, Allen coached softball and guided his Providence softball team to runner's up in the 2005 state championship. A proud PHS alum, you could often find him sitting front row at Providence baseball, basketball, and volleyball games. Allen enjoyed the outdoors, boating at Rough River Lake and hunting with his son-in-law and grandsons. He loved nothing more than a gathering of family and friends, sitting around the table drinking cold beer and playing cards; especially his favorite game, Euchre.

Allen was born on June 13, 1949 in Clovis, New Mexico to the late Elmer and Mary Imogene (McCallister) Donner Fulkerson. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, James Fulkerson; his sister, Phyllis Jones; his in-laws, Paul and Helen Andres; his brothers-in-law, Bill Highland, Linwood Jones, and Steve Andres; and his sister-in-law, Denice Andres. Allen is survived by his loving wife, Rosie Donner; daughters, Amy Lorenz (Chris), Darcy Williams (Sterling), and Jessica Miller (Keevan). Nothing gave him greater joy than his grandchildren, Jay and Jackson Lorenz, Thea Williams, and Ruby, Lainey, and baby girl (on the way) Miller. He had a great love for his siblings, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rita Highland, and Rudy Donner (Donna), Ron Andres (Cindy), John Andres (Janis), Kathy Martin (Jim), Michael Andres, David Andres (Jan), Chuck Andres (Sarah), Donna Swartz (Vic); and countless nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
