Alison Leah Cherry, a vibrant soul who touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on April 29, 1960, Alison was a cherished daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend whose spirit will continue to illuminate the hearts of those she left behind.
Alison was a woman of remarkable dedication and passion. As the owner and manager of "Alison's Cancer Survivor Journey," a non-profit organization devoted to helping women navigate the journey of cancer survival, she empowered countless individuals with her compassion and understanding. Her commitment to helping others stemmed from her own experiences and served as a source of inspiration for many.
A graduate of high school in Florida, Alison possessed an affable personality that drew people to her. She was fun-loving, energetic, and fashionable, always taking the time to show kindness and warmth to everyone she met. Her love for life radiated through her many interests; she found joy in shopping for the latest fashions, expressing her creativity through photography and poetry, and embracing her artistic flair. Alison was also a devoted dog lover, cherishing the companionship they brought into her life.
Alison found her greatest pride and accomplishment in watching her family grow. Her dedication as a mother was unparalleled, nurturing her three children—Henry Wendell Dewitt, Samuel Gardner Dewitt, and Elizabeth Grace Dewitt—with unwavering love and support. Her role as a grandmother to Kelsey Michelle Dewitt was equally treasured, as she formed cherished memories and a special bond with her granddaughter.
She is survived by her loving family, including her brother Andrew "Andy" Cherry (Mary Ruth Cherry), her sister Angela Elizabeth Cherry, and her brother Justin Hagan Cherry. The legacy she leaves behind is one of deep love, unwavering support, and immeasurable kindness.
Alison was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell Cherry and Mary Elizabeth Cherry, who undoubtedly welcomed her into eternal rest with open arms.
A visitation honoring Alison's beautiful life will be held on February 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at Chapel in the Woods, located at 1407 Moser Rd, Louisville, KY 40299 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
The family requests that attendees wear their brightest colors to honor the life and legacy of Alison.
