Alice L. Swango, 87, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Providence Retirement Home.

Alice was born on September 29, 1925 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Samuel and Mary (Hutchison) Amos. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Swango.

She is survived by her children: Linda Codey, Samuel and Raleigh Swango; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She attended Depauw Methodist Church in New Albany. Alice had received the Golden Acorn Award and was also a PTA officer for many years at S. Ellen Jones Elementary School.

Visitation will be from 11 AM to 2 PM Friday, September 20, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM Friday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens in Louisville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Providence Retirement Home for their activity fund.
