Alice Carpenter

Alice "Mae" Marie Carpenter, age 90 of Louisville Kentucky passed away peacefully where she resided at Richwood Nursing & Rehab in Lagrange Kentucky. She was a life member of VFW (Middletown), American Legion Auxiliary (St Matthews) and retired from Jefferson County Public Schools as a Food Service Cafeteria worker (Middletown Elementary). Alice was widowed at 43 who preceded her in death, Fred Allen Marcum and preceded in death by her late husband Marvin Carpenter. She is also preceded in death by her father, George Gruneisen, her mother Alice Grunisen Hellman, her sister Marlene Spiehs, her son Larry Marcum, Stepsons Marvin Carpenter Jr, Allen Drew Carpenter her step grandson Brent Carpenter and niece Sarah Spiehs.

Alice will be missed by those who celebrate her life including son, Dennis Marcum; daughters, Donna Sexton (Warren), Lorie Marcum;along with her stepson, James Arthur Carpenter (Debbie); stepdaughter, Candy Sue Miller; and stepson, Michael Lee Carpenter. Grandchildren include Jermy Marcum, Nicholas Puffer, Kayla Marcum and Branden Sexton; and step-grandchildren, Greg Carpenter, Tina Carpenter, Christy Shelton (Chris), Ginny Lynn Puckett Fentress (Ron) and Robert "BJ" Puckett (Beth) and Ezra Carpenter; and nephew, Steven Spiehs; several great-grandchildren; her "MERTS" lunch buddies, her special "daughter" and friend, Ruth Marcum, who always looked forward to and receiving hugs with Alice. Laura and Ann who were Golden Corral lunch partners with Alice and Marvin for many years and dedicated to Alice regardless of the distance of where she needed to move. Alice also leaves behind many who loved her including the people at The Oaks Assisted Living staff who became friends instead of staff. She was so very happy there.

Visitation will be from 10am until time of funeral services at 12pm on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243.  Entombment will follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East, 11601 Ballardsville Road, Louisville, Kentucky.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in memory of Alice Carpenter to American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
