Albert Taylor, 88, of Louisville departed this life on Friday May 10, 2013.
Albert or "Paw Paw" as his children and grandchildren called him was born on October 12, 1924 in Henderson, KY.
He succumbed to a long illness, with loving care of the VA Hospital, VA Foster Program, and Hosparus of So. Indiana.
Albert was the only child of the late Della Cosby and George Taylor, who moved with him at an early age to Louisville, Kentucky were he graduated from Central High School. A veteran of World War II, Albert joined the U.S. Navy in 1941 and served proudly as a gunner's mate on the U.S.S. LSM 454. He was also stationed at the U.S. Naval Bases in Aruba and Pearl Harbor before being honorably discharged in 1945. He had been selected and was looking forward to the Honor Flight to Washington DC in June 2013, to honor the WWII veterans.
After proudly serving his country he returned to Louisville where he met and married the love of his life Mamie Hall Taylor on September 6, 1947. From this union six children were born. In 1954 after he professed his love and faith in Jesus Christ, and joined Cable Missionary Baptist Church. He was a dedicated and faithful employee at the old General Hospital and U of L Hospital, until his retirement.
Left to celebrate his life are his beloved wife Mamie; two sons, Larry and Michael (Debra); four daughters, Terry Daniels (Dr. Tyrone), Darlene, Theresa, and Stacy; and God daughter Sharon Booker; 26 grandchildren; 25 great grand children, and a host of other relatives and friends.
