Alan Wayne Booker, 65, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at his home. He enjoyed camping, tinkering on the computer, and could be described as somewhat of a handyman.
Alan was born on October 1, 1947 in Luttrel, Tennessee to the late Thomas and Stella (Greenlee) Booker. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Judy Murphy, Bonita Wright, Frankie Renfro, Margaret Harmon, Fern Dukes, Ruby Colson, Opal Worsham, Evelyn Hunley, and Jewel Onks.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon (Jenkins) Booker; children, Leslie Woods (Wayne), Travis Booker, Amanda Booker; sisters, Jean Dennie, Janet Haycox (Paul), Mary McDonald (Roger, Sr.), Charlotte Picket, Brenda Nichols, Faye Nelson (Loren), Iris Davis; grandchildren, Ashley, Hailey, Sydney Woods; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12 PM to 6 PM Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will take place on Monday at 10 AM at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow at Kays Chapel Cemetery in Fredericksburg, Indiana.
