Alan R. Bishop, 55, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Albany, the City Saleman's Club in Louisville, and the Independent Electrical Contractor's Association. He served his country for 10 years in the National Guard and was a member of the Retired Officer's Club. Alan was an avid fisherman, master electrician, but most of all, a loving husband, son, father, brother, and great friend to many.
Alan was born on June 4, 1957 in Louisville to Vivian (Kruer) Bishop and the late Henry J. Bishop. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Angela and Gail Bishop. Along with his mother, Alan is survived by his wife, Veronica L. (Fain) Bishop; children, Zachary Fain (Loretta), Sarah and Grant Bishop; siblings, Terry Bishop (Debra), Vickie Wilson (Clifford), Debbie Crawford (Ralph), Karen Stoner (Scott), Douglas Bishop (Cindy), Curtis and Dennis Bishop; grandchildren, Ashton, Spencer, Zander, Chastity; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from 12 to 8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Mass will be held at noon on Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany) with cremation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for the care of his children.
