Alan Wayne Glidewell

Alan Wayne Glidewell, age 68 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Alan was born on August 21, 1954 to Paul and Dolores Glidewell. After graduating high school, he began working at Philip Morris. After 25 years, he retired and went to work for General Electric. After 10 years, he fully retired to enjoy more time doing the things he enjoyed.

In addition to spending time with family and friends, Alan enjoyed time at the lake, racetrack and car shows. He was especially proud of the restoration work he completed on his 1957 Chevy. Alan could fix anything! He was an excellent teacher to anyone who wanted to learn how to fix something. He had a love for all living things, and never hesitated to help an animal in need! He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dolores Glidewell, sister, Paula Redding (Steve) and daughter, Cheryl Glidewell.

Alan is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Yvonne Grisham Glidewell; daughter, Marci McKenzie; sons, Paul and Alan Glidewell (Christina); stepdaughters, Misty Ludwick (Berk) and Jessica Taylor; grandchildren, Ashley, Chandler and Evan McKenzie, Noah Meyer, Darren and Lauren O'Bryan, Araina Quiggins, Aiden and Allie Ludwick and AJ Glidewell; and sisters, Pam Yenner (Paul) and Kim Glidewell; and a host of relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank Hosparus of Louisville for the wonderful care they provided in Alan's final days.

Visitation will be 1 to 6pm on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Alan's life will be 11am Monday, November 7th at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
