Adan "Adam" Torres-Zuñiga, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020. In 1974, he immigrated to the United States in search of the opportunity for a better life. He would plant his roots in Starlight, Indiana, where he worked for Stumler's Orchard and Restaurant for nearly two decades. Concluding his work at Stumler's, he went to work for Koetter Woodworking where he would work until his health forced him to find other means. At that point, he started helping Hispanic families find employment and formed Adan Zuñiga Torres Employment Company (AZTEC Company). He dedicated himself to giving his family a better life.
He was born on December 19, 1951, in Las Canoas, Cardenas, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Alejandrino and Maurilia Torres.
Adam is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Cristian Selene Torres; children, Rodolfo "Rodito" Torres, Adilene Torres, Adandra Torres-Martin (Jamie Martin) of Borden, Antonio Torres (Rosie) of Floyds Knobs, and Angelo Torres (Amy Crawford) of Jeffersonville; grandchildren, Cruz and Isabela Martin, Lilly, AJ, Adan, and Christian Torres, Mya Crawford, and Riley and Maddox Torres; 6 brothers, Rogelio, Rodolfo, Daniel, Alejandrino "Alex", Joel, and Juan; and 4 sisters, Esperanza, Adelina, Ruby, and Margarita.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150). His Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial at St. Mary's of the Knobs Catholic Cemetery in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
