Mary E. Johnson

Mary Ernestine Calhoun Johnson was born to the union of Ernest and Winnie Calhoun on July 1, 1933 in Lebanon, KY. She departed this life Sunday, April 29, 2012 at home (1720 Bridgeview Ln) Louisville, KY at 1:23 P.M.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Sherman Chapel AME Methodist Church Lebanon, KY.

She retired in 1995 after 20 years of service with the Jefferson County Public School system.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest; her daughter Gwendolyn and her son Chester Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories; two daughters Mary O. Bond; Anna R. Johnson of Jeffersonville, IN; three sons Roger E. Jr., James L., Fleece J. Johnson; mother, Winnie Calhoun of Lebanon, KY; sister Mary J. Smith, Lebanon, KY; two brothers, Richard and James Calhoun of Lebanon, KY; son-in-law Rev. Lothel Bond; nineteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; three great, great, grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.



Funeral ceremony will be held Friday, May 4, 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home in Middletown, with burial to follow in Louisville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of service.Online condolences may be made to www.newcomerlouisville.com.

There will be a luncheon for family and friends Friday after burial. It will be held at the Middletown Masonic Lodge, 440 N. Madison Ave, Middletown Ky. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family c/o Mary Bond.
