Helen Andres

Helen Theresa (Engle) Andres, 86, of Floyds Knobs, passed away Friday, May 6, 2011 at Floyd Memorial Hospital. Helen was born June 26, 1924 in Starlight, Indiana to Joseph and Rose (Kiesler) Engle and spent her married life as a devout member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church.

Helen devoted her life to her loving husband of 64 years, Paul Andres of Floyds Knobs and to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent her life tirelessly, unselfishly and lovingly raising her sons, Ron (Cindy), John (Janis), Mike (Denice), David (Jan), and Chuck (Sarah), and daughters, Rosie Donner (Allen), Kathy Martin (Jim), and Donna Swartz (Vic). She is also survived by her sister, Thelma Bierman (Merrel); brother, Bill Engle (Ann), sisters-in-law, Maurice Engle and Katherine Andres; and brother-in-law, Bob Koetter, Sr. Her son, Steve, precedes Helen in death by less than a month.

Helen's beloved grandchildren are Stephanie Andres Rogers (Matt); Leslie Andres Mills (Chris); Matt Andres (Carrie Beth); Amy Donner Lorenz (Chris); Darcy Donner Williams (Sterling); Jessica Donner; Andrea Martin Cooley (Gary); Emily Martin (David Adkins); Stephanie Kirk Colin (Shawn); Erika Kirk McBride (Woody); Kyle Andres (Ruth); Daniel, Lindsey and Kelly Andres; Anthony, Pete and Will Andres; Zach and Jacob Swartz.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Edward, Charles and Melvin Engle, sister, Virginia Kersten, and many other loving members of the Engle and Andres family.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 8, 2011 from 2 to 8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a Prayer Service at 4 PM. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 11 AM with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
