Brenda Joyce Farley

February 12, 1950 — October 20, 2023

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Brenda departed this world on October 20, 2023, but left a legacy of love and cherished memories.

She was born on February 12, 1950 in Bardstown, Kentucky to Joseph and Mary (Roby) Phillips. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L Farley; and brother, Steve Phillips.

Brenda is survived by her loving family, daughters, Melissa (Cletus) Amlung, Tracy (Eddie) Gibson; siblings, Bob (Julia) Phillips, Rhonda (Bill) Wathen, Diane (Ken) Lurie, Debbie (Harry Pfeiffer) Sears, Shelia Allgeier; grandchildren, Logan Amlung, Kaitlin Gibson, Jackson Gibson, Madison Amlung, Grant Gibson; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.

Brenda loved deeply. She loved bunco, road trips, the beach, and lipstick. Her game nights with the "Bunco Girls" were filled with laughter and probably more than one dirty joke. She was always up for a road trip, whether around the corner or across the country. Mandatory on those trips was finding good places to eat and the nearest Walmart. One of her favorite places to road trip was to the beach. Not one for staying out in the sun all day, she most enjoyed her early morning walks down the coast. When not dipping her always-painted toes in the surf and sand, she could be found people watching from a balcony. No one within her view was immune to her private comments and critiques. She did none of these things, though, without some lipstick. They say you can't pick your family, but you can choose your lipstick shade, and she did. The taking of photos has been paused more than once so she could "put on her lips."

Brenda's love for her family was unmatched. She was a devoted daughter, a loving mother, a caring sister, and a doting grandmother. She embraced all these roles, but she found her greatest joy in the role of grandma. Brenda's heart swelled with love for her grandbabies. They were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment she spent with them. Whether it was birthdays, holidays, sports, or special achievements, she was always there to cheer them on and celebrate her grand babies' with enthusiasm and heartfelt pride.

As we say our goodbyes, let us remember the joy she brought into our lives, and may her memory be a source of comfort. She will be deeply missed but will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. May her spirit find peace, loved ones gone before her, a never-ending shoreline, and lipstick that never fades.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
