Shirley Kathryn White, age 73 of Simpsonville, Kentucky was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 1, 2023. Shirley was born on January 29, 1950 to the late Clarence William "CW" White and Virginia Lee White (Henderson) in Louisville, KY. She loved the Lord. She is a member of Allen Chapel United Methodist Church. She attended Montclair Elementary School, Lincoln School for 8th grade, then Shelby County High School where she graduated. She did attend Kentucky State University. She was employed with Purnell's Old Folks Country Sausage Company for 37 years before retirement in 2019. She loved her work family. She loved playing softball, bowling, going to family cookouts, playing cards and attending events for her daughters and grandchildren. She was a true U of L fan. Christmas time was one of her favorite holidays. She loved to spend it with her family. One of her favorite things at Christmas was giving gag gifts as presents. Also giving Christmas ornaments. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her step-grandson, Stephone Ritchie Sr.
Shirley is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Rodger) Ritchie and LeNita Bello; three grandchildren, Jalin Abernathy, Cameron Beckley, and Lendora Bello; one great-grandchild, Devin Cain Jr; one step-granddaughter, Amber Ritchie; step-grandchildren, Dontez, Kaylib, Michael, Nevaeh, Stephone Jr. Ritchie and Latrell Winsor; her siblings, Artie (Alphonso) Byrd, Norman White (Kim), Clearance-Abby (Topaza) White, William-Sonny White (Vivian), and Ashley Campbell. She has a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Her favorite quote was " I brought you into this world and I will take you out ". Mom was an unselfish, loving, caring, and giving person. She was loved and a friend to all.
Visitation will be 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Shirley's life will be at the funeral home at 1 pm, followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery of Shelbyville, Kentucky.
Shirley's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
