Phyllis Ann Mcmahan

Phyllis Ann McMahan (nee Speer), age 85 of Louisville, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023. She was a volunteer with VA Medical Center, was a member of the Louisville VFW Women's Auxiliary, and spent a lot of time with her husband at the Okolona VFW Post #8639 in the 1970s and 1980s. In the 1990s and 2000s she was an avid quilter and gardener. She regularly volunteered with the Kentucky State Fair and quilted with the quilting group at St. Agnes Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pryor and Ina Speer; and her husband Desmond McMahan; and her daughter, Brenda McHargue; and her sister, Donna Gail Nation.

Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory her children, Debra McMahan, Anita Long and Ronald McMahan; her siblings, Norma Cheatham, Nancy Cheatham, Linda Manley, Virginia "Alice" Rawlins and Judith Craig; grandchildren, Aleisha Hough, Amanda Wolfe and Brittney McCullough; great-grandchildren, Jaynie Beaver, Cole Beaver and Summer McCullough; and a host of relatives and friends.

A gathering to celebrate Phyllis' life will be 3 to 6pm on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243.
