Daniel Kent Barry, 71, of Louisville, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022 at Baptist Health Louisville.
He was a graduate of Durrett High School and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. For many years, Dan was the quintessential traveling salesman for local graphics companies, including Southern Graphics, racking up major sales, lots of miles and many colorful stories. He later served as a classroom assistant for Goldsmith Elementary special education students.
Dan enjoyed travel and had a goal of visiting all 50 states, which he achieved this year with an Alaskan cruise. He was the national winner of Hampton Inn's One Million Point giveaway, which provided several trips for his family. He enjoyed sports – especially watching his beloved Kentucky Wildcats – a good meal and word hunt puzzles. In his younger days, Dan was quite a softball player. He enjoyed singing in the Master's Men choir at Southeast Christian Church where he was a longtime member.
Dan was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Sharon Grether Barry, and his sister, Barbara Ray.
He is survived by his wife, Kit Fullenlove Barry; son, Matthew (Emily) Barry; daughter Stephanie (Josh) Tichenor; bonus daughter Rachel (Xavier) Rodriguez; grandchildren, Allison and Samuel Barry, Skylar and Jacob Tichenor, and Jada and Adriana Rodriguez; his sister, Joyce Carter; and numerous nieces and nephews, many close cousins and friends.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
