Kenny is survived by wife Linda Wheat; stepchildren Robert McGuinness (Elizabeth), Shelley Duncan, Nikki Simpkins (Michael), Holly Dean (Tommy), Trisha Glendenning (Doug), Amanda Hansley; sisters Diana Hibbard (John) and EttaAnne PaQuita Rodriguez; brothers Terry Combs (Angelina), Dennis Wheat (Debra), Jose Rodriguez and Meikel Poore; 14 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and his dog Bailey.

Preceded in death by mother Imelda "Millie" Virginia Wheat, father Charlie Wheat, granddaughter Madison Hensley and beloved fur babies CoCo and Beau.

Kenneth was raised in the Portland neighborhood and went went to Catholic school as a child. Received his GED. He entered the US Army at the age of 17. He was an excellent brother to his siblings. They could always count on him. Kenny was married Linda for 32 years. Apon his death he worked for Allied Universal Security. He loved his dogs as if they were his children. He had a passion for video games and watching wrestling. Took pride in being a grandfather. Had a special bond with his grandson Stephen. They spent a lot of time together. All of grandchildren loved spending time "Pepaw". He looked forward to watching them opening their Christmas presents on Christmas day. He was a very active parent. Anything that his stepchildren needed, he was happy to provide. His favorite sports teams were the Green Bay Packers and UK. He loved heavy metal and rock music. His favorite band was "Metallica". Kenny was himself all the time around everyone. He was always cheerful and had a joke or smart remark for you. He was loved by all of those who shared a moment with him.

Visitation will be from 12-6pm on Sunday, October 16th at Newcomer Funeral Home (10304 Dixie Hwy). A service honoring Kenny will take place at 4pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
