Our Beloved
Mary Agnes Brewer Booker, we imagine arrived into this wonderful world, as meek as a lamb on Nov 10, 1933, because that was her true demeanor. Unless of course it was a cold, blustery day. And, if it was, we can hear her crying out in that tiny baby voice, "it's cold in here!" You see, Mary wasn't fond of cold weather. In fact, she was always dressed in many layers, no matter the season. Oh, but can you imagine the kind of warmth she's experiencing now in the arms of Jesus?
Mary had a grand welcoming committee waiting to greet her as she stepped into glory, in the wee hours of the morning, August 17th, 2022. There to receive her were her parents, Jesse and Lucy; son, Antonio, daughter, Debra (who was born August 17th) what a wonderful birthday gift to be reunited with your mama! Her sisters and brothers; Bertha, Rosie, David, Leonard and Willie were so excited to see her. Ocie Lee Booker, Jr. her husband of many years, and the father of her four children was there with their two predeceased babies, taking care of them until she arrived.
Mary learned about the love of God and his saving power early in her life. She made the best decision of her life and decided to follow Him. She was a long-time member of Von Spiegel Church. Later, she joined Right Now Harvest Church. She remained strong in her faith, when times were hard and even during sickness. She didn't complain. She fought the good fight and finished her course.
As she stood on the promises of God, Mary worked outside of the home and raised four children. She maintained that quiet, meek demeanor while doing so, but they knew when she meant business!!! Son, Marvin (Janice) Booker, Madison, AL; daughter, Theresa Booker, Louisville, KY can still attest to that and treasure the precious memories of mama. Her three sisters, Patricia McBride (James) and Lucille Cox, Henderson, KY, and Jessie Barbour, Canmer, KY, will reflect as far back as their childhood and smile as the memories of Mary coming flooding back.
Mary was "Big Mama" to nine grandchildren. Jeresa, Antonio, Eddie, Tamara, Marvin Jr, Bryson, Te'Shawn, Sr., Tyrell, Sr., and Te'Leea. Also, to several great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She will be sorely missed by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who adored her.
