Earl Jennings Wheeler, Jr.

Earl Jennings Wheeler, Jr., age 77 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022. He was born on November 1, 1944 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late Earl Jennings Wheeler, Sr. and Anna Mae (Damron) Wheeler. Earl graduated from Ashland High School and attended Asbury College and the University of Kentucky before he enlisted into the United States Coast Guard in 1965, and served two tours in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1969, after which he served in law enforcement as a police officer with the Jefferson County Police Department. He retired in 2003.

Earl loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He enjoyed reading the Bible and spending time with his wife, Dawn, and many friends at the Fern Creek Sportsman's Club, where he served as president for several years and was recently honored with member emeritus status. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn Wheeler in 2017.

Earl is survived by his daughter, Lisa Camarata (Ed); granddaughter, Elise Camarata; sister, Ann Wolf (Charles); niece, Stephanie Madison; nephew, Jared Wolf (Allison) and numerous great-nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be at 3pm on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Pennsylvania Run Cemetery, 8405 Pennsylvania Run Road, Louisville, KY 40228, with military funeral honors.
