Tina Marie Smith

September 8, 1960 — January 9, 2022

Tina Marie Pirrmann Smith was born on September 8, 1960, in Louisville, Ky. Her beautiful soul went home on January 9, 2022, where she rejoined her niece, Amanda, who was waiting with open arms to welcome her into her next life. She was 61 years old and lived her entire life in Louisville, KY close to her family and friends. She was born and raised in the west end of Louisville where she developed many lasting friendships. As a teenager, her family moved to Lyndon, where she lived the remainder of her life.
Later, her love for children guided her to a career in teaching preschool. Her career, in teaching, began at Tiny Tots Preschool, continued to Westport Preschool, and the last 25 years were spent at Keneseth Israel Preschool. Over her 33 years of teaching, she touched the lives of countless children and families who remember her for the love and care she provided each of her students. She was best known at Keneseth Israel Preschool for her compassion, fun loving attitude, creativity in learning, her winter snow dances, howling at the full moon, and her over the top extraordinary Spring Program class performances. Her impact on her students was so profound that even into adulthood her "babies" remember her and the knowledge she gave them. Proving our world will be a better place for generations to come because of the lasting, loving, and positive influence she has passed on to countless young lives. Tina always referred to her coworkers at KIP as her second family. She would want each of them to know that she loved them very much.

Tina's love for her family has always been her number one priority in life. Tina held a very special place in her heart for her mother and father. She always knew their love for her was everlasting, as was hers for them. The oldest of 5, the bond between Tina and her siblings was the envy of all who knew them. Their unconditional love and support of each other never wavered and through thick and thin was a constant in each of their lives.

As Tina had no children of her own, the overflow of love she had in her heart was devoted to her nieces and nephews. With each of these special relationships she wore many hats. She was a bonus mom, a best friend, a teacher, a dance partner, a confidant, and guiding light. They knew their secrets were always safe with her and that they could always go to her to help them through the hard things in life. She always knew the right things to say and best advice to give. The memories they share with her from mud pies to slumber parties, snipe hunts to scary movies, and living room dance parties will remain with them forever.
Tina is preceded in death by her Maternal Grandparents, Larney and June Filburn, Paternal Grandparents Edwin and Lucille Pirrmann, and her niece and special angel Amanda Peterson.

Tina is survived by her soulmate and loving, devoted husband, Roger Smith. Unknowingly to them, their paths had crossed many times over their lives before fate finally guided them to find each other during the summer of 2003, at a family gathering in Indiana. From that moment on, the two were inseparable. Never would you know a couple that was more perfect for each other. Their love of adventure, laughter, camping, and the outdoors bonded them together instantaneously. They later married during a beautiful outdoor wedding in June of 2010. Tina and Roger lived a beautiful life together, interrupted too soon by Tina's devastating diagnosis of Leukemia in 2019. Tina fought long and hard with Roger by her side every step of the way. Roger was the most loving, understanding, and gentle caregiver to Tina. His devotion to her knew know bounds and he truly lived their vows of "in sickness and in health." Roger has lost his best friend.

Tina is also survived by her parents, Elizabeth Filburn Pirrmann and Edwin (Rosie) Pirrmann; loving in-laws, Glenn and Mary Smith; siblings, Pam Pirrmann Brunner, Dana Pirrmann McKenna, Edward (Shawna) Pirrmann, Jerry (Melissa) Pirrmann; brother-in-law, Dan Smith; nieces and nephews, Beth (Jeremy) Schultz, Andrew Brunner, Rebeka Brunner, Tom McKenna, Hunter Pirrmann, Kaden Pirrmann, Cole Pirrmann, Layla Pirrmann, Dustin Marsh, Kennedy (Chris) Owen; great nieces and nephews, Reese and Rylee Schultz, Lincoln McKenna, Shelby Shekell, and "Little Nugget" Owen; and her devoted pets/children, Moon and Smoke.
