Charles "Chuck" William Denton, 85, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021.
He was born on February 15, 1936 in Lee County, Virginia to William and Iva Denton. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Grayson Charles Denton, his aunt and uncle who raised him from the time he was a little boy, Lou and Jim Haynes, and his sister, Roberta Jane "Bobbi" Cain.
Chuck proudly served our country while enlisted in the U.S. Army and retired from BellSouth/AT&T after nearly 40 years. He was a graduate of Chicago Technical College, where he received his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering. Chuck drove around Louisville just like he was still driving a Chicago City bus. He was a sports enthusiast, a staunch UK fan, who also kept his sons busy coaching them in multiple sports. Chuck always made sure there were lots of vacations, and good stories, even though every vacation was like the Griswolds. Chuck also made education a priority and because of his mentoring he was very proud of all his sons' accomplishments in their life. He would beam with pride when he talked about his sons, their wives, and the grandchildren.
Here to carry on his memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Midge Denton, sons, Keith William (Andrea) Denton, Kevin Charles (Janie) Denton, and Kristopher Robert (Kelly) Denton, adopted daughter, Denise Walker, grandchildren, Emily (Chelsea) Denton, Lily Denton, Annabelle Denton, Austin Denton, Ashley Denton, Konnor Denton, Kloie Denton, Kora Denton, Kinzie Denton, and Gracie Walker, sister, Carolyn Sue "Suzi" (Larry) Smith, brother in-law, Ronnie (Joy) Ewing, cousins, David (Sherry) Haynes, and Buddy Denton, brothers in-law, Bob Cain and Bobby (Faye) Ewing.
Visitation will be from 3-8pm on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (10304 Dixie Hwy). A public Mass will take place Friday, December 3, 2021 at 11am at St. Stephen Martyr Catholic Church (2931 Pindell Ave). There will be a private burial taking place at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY at a later date.
