James Leslie Watson, III, age 76 of Louisville, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
James Leslie Watson III was born February 3, 1945, to the late Rev. James Leslie Watson Jr,
and Willie Mae Trowell Watson in Worthington, Ky: He was the second of seven children. As a
youth, he had joined Taylortown A.M.E. Zion Church. James graduated from Eastern High
School, during which time he was drafted by the United States Army, and served one term and
was honorably discharged. He departed this earth on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
James was joined in holy matrimony to the late Beverly Jean Mimms Watson on June 10, 1967, and
was married for 38 years. Their union was blessed with two children, James Leslie Watson IV
and Jamila Monya Watson. James was a very devoted father and Papa. He worked for his father until his death, then he started his own plaster and construction business until retiring. Then worked his last 2 years always smiling at Meijers as a greeter which was his favorite hobby. He loved to laugh and joke with his co-workers, You knew he was in the room by the laughter and humor that followed him.
James leaves to cherish his memory, his three children James (Amanda), Jamila (DeRay), and
Decora; 11 grandchildren; siblings, Bettie M. Rowe, Danial B, Watson, Jeremiah Watson, and
John P. Watson, Joseph M. Watson (deceased), Paul L. Watson (deceased;, and a host of
aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special friend Joy White.
A gathering to celebrate James' life will be from 4 to 6 pm on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, Louisville, Kentucky 40243, with military honors at 6 pm.
