Sharon Jean Kersey

Sharon Jean "Sherry" Kersey (Hendrix), age 82 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Baptist Health Louisville from complications of a long-term illness. She was born in Kankakee, Illinois on April 27, 1938 and resided in Louisville, Kentucky with her son Brett and daughter-in-law Barbara. Sherry worked in the retail industry most of her life and in 2008, she retired from Macy's, Inc. after 25 years of dedicated service. She will always be remembered for her unselfish love and unwavering kindness with her beautiful smile, and who always had enough food in her pantry to feed an army. She was preceded in death by father, Carl Wayne Hendrix; mother, Georgia Elaine Hendrix (Fry); brother, Jerry Wayne Hendrix; and two infant twin boys, Kevin and Kent Kersey.

Sharon "Sherry" is survived by her loving children, Scott Scheffler (Claudia), Brett Kersey (Barbara) and Allison Schrieber; grandchildren, Dallas Kersey and amber Kersey, Jessica Kinsey (Ryan), Jack and Kevin Schrieber; and Melody Roach; loving great-grandchildren who called her "GramGram", George Riley Baker, twins Kaelynne Marie and Kiley Mae, Tara Louise and Kitai Henry Thomas, Evan, Nathan and Nolan Kinsey; and beloved niece, Amy Leenerts (John) and many close family friends. Sherry had what she referred to as her "adopted" children and grandchildren. Also surviving are one remarkably close family friend, Susanne Anderson-Moore and her daughter, Stella Marie, who she considered her a granddaughter.

Visitation will be 4 to 8pm on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 and 9:30am to 11am on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Sharon's life will be 11am Friday, April 23rd at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Floydsburg Cemetery, Crestwood, Kentucky.
