Etta E. Stewart , 81, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021. Etta was known to her siblings as "Jack" and her nieces and nephews as "Aunt Jackie". She confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Snowtown AME Church in Mississippi. Upon arrival to Louisville, KY she would make Quinn Chapel AME her life long church home. She served as a class leader and a dedicated usher until she started experiencing failing health but remained a dedicated servant of God.
As a young adult Etta moved to Louisville, KY and worked for the Red Cross Hospital. She met her loving husband, Alton Stewart at the hospital where he was a patient. They remained married over 25 years until his death in 1991. She worked at Park Duvalle Health Center. She retired from Louisville Gas and Electric.
She was the "HOSTESS" for family holiday gatherings. She was an excellent cook and would prepare all the dishes from scratch. It was a labor of love and devotion to her family.
Etta loved spring!! She would find pleasure in creating beautiful landscape around her home. Flower pots were never a shortage and would contain beautiful arrangements she would create with care. She took pride in anything she owned and would go beyond to make sure those things reflected her pride and gratefulness. She LOVED Sunday hats and she liked to look her best at all times. Her greatest joy could be found with her grandson Jackson. You could find them traveling, dining, shopping, and spending time together. Etta will truly be missed by anyone and everyone that had the honor and pleasure of meeting her.
Etta was strong, feisty, and a true fighter till the end!! Her enduring smile will be missed.
She was born on December 3, 1939 in Shannon, Mississippi to Solomon and Sallie (Harvey) Pack. She was the fourth born of 7 children. She is preceded in death by her father, Solomon Pack, Jr., mother, Sallie Mae Pack; husband, Alton Eugene Stewart; daughter, Sharon Stewart; siblings, Willie Myrtle Richmond and Ervene Murray.
Etta is survived by her loving family, daughter, Pauletta Stewart; grandson, Jackson Delworth Stewart; siblings, Mae Clifford Taylor, June Edward (Vonnie) Pack, Annie Mae Pack, and Shirley Ann (Louis) Burgess. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends to cherish her fun loving memory forever.
Visitation will be from 3pm to 6pm on Sunday April 18th, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions Southwest, (10304 Dixie Hwy Louisville, KY 40272). Her Celebration of Life Service will be at 1pm on Monday April 19th, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions Southwest with burial to follow at Green Meadows Cemetery.
