LISA MICHELLE WISE JONES was born at the St. Alban's Naval Hospital in Jamaica, Queens, New York to Gloria Smith and the late Vincent Wise on July 15, 1965. She departed this life on February 3, 2021 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Lisa spent the very early part of her childhood in Jamaica, Queens, New York. In 1971, at the age of 6, she moved to Long Island, New York where her mother met and married the late Alex Mobley; her stepfather, whom Lisa adored and loved dearly. She lived on the borderline of Copiague and Amityville, in the neighborhood affectionately known as the "Forties" her entire childhood. Lisa attended and was baptized, at St. Mary's Church on Broadway in Amityville.
Lisa was educated in the Copiage Public School System, attending Deauville Gardens Elementary, Copiague Junior High, and ultimately graduating from Copiague Senior High School in 1983. Lisa was an excellent student and spent her school years in the "A" track, a curriculum for high academic achievers. Later in her life, with much determination and hard work, she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Health Care Administration from Brookline College.
While growing up on Long Island, Lisa enjoyed spending time with her family which included her aunts, uncles, and cousins. She enjoyed going to the local pool, attending back yard barbeques, and picnics at the public state parks Belmont, Heckscher, and Sunken Meadow.
Some of her favorite activities growing up were going to the Amityville Village Movie Theatre and walking to White Castle afterwards; eating her favorite sausage pizza at Mike's in Amityville or Albert's in Copiague; attending Amityville Day and parties at the A.C.E. Center; and hanging out with her friends at the Sunrise and busy Bee Malls in Massapequa.
On July 26, 1988, Lisa gave birth to her first child, Travis Alexander Hawkins. In 1997, she married Reginald Jones and on April 14, 1997, gave birth to her second child, Regene Allie Jones. A few years later in 2005, Lisa made a really hard decision to leave to be closer to her brother, uncle, and other extended family. Eventually her mother would also join her there.
Not too long after moving to Louisville, Lisa received the news that she needed a new heart. She was put on the transplant list and received her new heart in October, 2011. By the grace of God, the transplant was a success, and Lisa was with us for another 10 years. Blessed with this extra time, she formed a strong bond with her son; nurtured and watched her daughter grow into a young lady; gained three grandchildren; received a Bachelor's Degree, and enjoyed life while creating more precious memories with her family and friends.
Those who knew Lisa would agree that she was genuine and did not bite her tongue. Never ask her a question unless you wanted the God's honest truth. She was definitely the life of the party and had a laugh that was unforgettable. Lisa had a passion for music and could name that tune in just a few notes. She spent endless late-night weekends listening to her favorite songs and reminiscing. She also loved to watch cartoons, old shows, and classic movies.
Lisa was a daughter, sister, mother, wife, aunt and friend. She was one of a kind, and touched the lives of many. She was not shy in expressing her deep love for her family and friends. If she loved you, you knew it. She was a shining light on this earth. Her physical presence will be greatly missed, but her spirit will remain in the hearts of her loved ones.
Lisa was preceded in death by her stepfather Alex Mobley (Gloria Mobley-Fayson); brother Alex Mobley (Shay Todd); grandfather Wilbur Smith; grandmother Marguerite Smith; aunts Dawn Smith, Kim Smith, and Violet Baston; cousins Wymon Baston and Richard Suswell (Britnee Jones).
