Denise Inez Smith

Denise Inez Smith, 68, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021. After a teaching career that spanned over 30 years, Denise retired from Christian Academy in New Albany. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed fishing, traveling, and, most importantly, spending time with her family.

She was born on April 24, 1952, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Jerry and Inez (Tarrence) Smith. Denise is survived by her sisters, Carol Owen, Rena Vest (Jonathan), and Sarah Wermuth; brother, Danny McGowen (Ellen); stepmother, Harriet Smith; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Monday after 9:00 a.m. Her funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Abundant Life Memorial Gardens in New Albany.
