Gerald J. Egan, 80, of Waddy, Kentucky, formerly of Louisville, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.

He was born on October 28, 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky to William and Julia (Dearing) Egan. Gerald was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam Era. He was retired from the United States Postal Service.

He is preceded in death by his son, John David Laubheimer; father, William Joseph Egan; mother, Julia A. Egan; brother, William Denis Egan; and sister, Julie Egan.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Amelia Ann Egan; sons, William Anthony Laubheimer (Connie), Michael Fitzgerald Egan (Crissy), and Jeremy T. Egan; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother, William Egan (Dee); sisters, Kathy Krebs (Lenny), Ellen Meyer (Bill), and Monica Magan (Mike).

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - East Louisville, (235 Juneau Drive). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Louisville.

The family requests that contributions in Gerald's memory be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, The Alzheimer's Foundation of America, or The American Cancer Society.
