Shelia Renee Stone transitioned peacefully on Tuesday, February 8 while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 20, 1971 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Paul and Lillie Curtis. Shelia was the youngest of 9 siblings.
She married George Stone, II on September 1, 2000 and the two of them built a wonderful life together over the past twenty years. They are the proud parents of three children and six grandchildren. Shelia's passion for her family was apparent to all that knew her and she lived her life in obedience to God. As the baby of the family, she was adored and was well known for her generosity, kindness and her ever present big beautiful smile. Shelia attended Butler High School in Louisville where she excelled in academics.
Shelia would later attend Indiana Wesleyan University where she majored in Business and earned her Bachelor's Degree. Shelia worked as a Clinical Intake Specialist for the Humana Corporation for the last nine years. In her spare time she enjoyed writing poetry, sporting events, reading, knitting, cooking, shopping, sister trips with her five loving sisters as well as spending time with her grandkids.
Shelia leaves to cherish her memory her husband George, daughter Keona, son George Stone, III, and Kerontae. She is also survived by six grandsons, Caleb, Gwanda, Gada, Noel, Jo'Vonni and Yasin, her sisters, Mattie, Bernetta, Maria, Paula and Stacey. Also surviving are her brothers Robert, Stanley, Michael, mother-in-law Deborah Stone, father-in-law, George Stone, Sr., sister-in-laws Christian and DeNitha as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Cable Baptist Church (314 South Wenzel Street, Louisville, KY 40204).
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 11:00 am at the church with burial to follow at Green Meadows Cemetery (3800 Shanks Lane, Louisville, KY 40216).
