Glenn Russell Taylor

Glenn Russell Taylor was born on September 27, 1958, to Sammie Louis Taylor, Sr. and Elizabeth Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his father, Sammie Louis Taylor, Sr.
Glenn attended Newburg Elementary and Shawnee High School. His early childhood was spent in Newburg where he attended Newburg Apostolic Church. In 1965 the family united with Christ Temple under the leadership of the late Bishop Robert Little, where he was baptized. Later in life, he returned to Newburg Apostolic under the leadership of Elder Waverly Holland.
Glenn worked at Spalding's, Louisville International Airport and Towne Airs Trucking Company.
Glenn met and married Doris Allen. They shared many happy years together camping, grilling and enjoying life. Doris cared for Glenn relentlessly until his passing.
Glenn enjoyed hunting with his brothers; fishing with his friends; grilling; riding amusement rides; working in his yard and spending quality time with his family. Glenn and his brothers were supporters of Indiana Sports where they followed New Albany High School all season. He was a faithful caregiver for his mother. Before his health began to fail, he would transport her to her doctor's appointments, do her grocery shopping, bring her meals that he thought she would enjoy and make surprise visits.
On Monday, January 20, 2020, Glenn departed this life with his loving and devoted wife at his side. He leaves to cherish precious memories, his loving wife, Doris Allen Taylor; his sons, Glenn Coleman, Marcus Taylor (Tasha) and Tyler Carter; his daughters, Cheyenne Carter and Haylea Frazier, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild; his mother, Mother Elizabeth Taylor; his brothers, Deacon Sammie L. Taylor, Jr. (Rochelle), Thomas L. Taylor, Sr., Chester S. Taylor, Sr. and Deacon Douglas W. Taylor, Sr. (Debra); his sisters, Janie Taylor Byrd (Charles), Christy Taylor Harris (Benjamin), Sue Taylor Wilson and Sandra Watson; his special cousin/brother (who was also his caregiver) Timothy Dixon(Milayo); his aunt, Dorothy Taylor Forte; seven sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; his loyal Belgium Shepherd, Princess.
A service to celebrate Glenn's life will take place at 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Christ Temple Christian Life Center, 723 S. 45th Street, with burial to follow in Green Meadows Cemetery. The family will accept guests for visitation at the church prior to the service from 10:00 am- 12:00 pm.
