Mary M. Gagel

Mary M. "Maggie" Gagel, age 85 of Louisville, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019. She was a Catholic by faith. Maggie loved playing cards, fishing and recently celebrated her 85th birthday at Horseshoe Casino with her children and two very close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Mary Thompson; her brother, Darryl Thompson; and her husband, Lou Gagel; and her beloved cat, Louie.

Maggie is survived by her loving children, Mike Merritt and Pam Merritt; step-daughter, Anne Dunlap (Dale); grandson, Evan Dunlap; brother, James Thompson; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 3pm to 5 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions East Chapel (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243. A celebration of Maggie's life will take place at 5pm at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
