Kathryn Ann Thomas

February 6, 1946 — September 1, 2019

Kathryn Ann Thomas, age 73 of Louisville, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019. Kathryn Anne Thigpen Ware Thomas was born February 6, 1946 in Laurel, Mississippi to the late Rev. Chester Thigpen and Christine Thigpen. She was also preceded in death by husband, Eddie Thomas; ex-husband, Johnny Ware; sisters, Evelyn Williams, Elsie Mc Lemore; and nephew John "Butch" Williams.

Kathryn was 73 years old. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and overall beautiful person with a warm and fun-loving spirit that would help anyone in need. She loved knitting and crocheting. Also enjoyed watching soaps on TV, crime shows and football. Her favorite dish to make was "Dirty Rice". She cared for several foster children over the years.

Kathryn met Johnny Ware at a young age running through the pews at church where her Father was a minister. They then married and had one son Latrell. They lived in Plattsburgh, NY for a few years but sadly they divorced, and Kathryn and Latrell moved to St. Louis, MO where she raised her son alone as she worked hard to become a director of a daycare. She later became a kindergarten teacher in the St. Louis public school system. In St. Louis is where she then met her second husband Eddie Thomas and continued on with her life's journey becoming a foster parent to many children and finally adopting one little boy Robert. Eddie would pass away from cancer some years later. After this time, she started having heath issues and decided to move to Louisville to be closer to her son Latrell and his family. She would attend Victory Christian Church where she would reunite with her childhood friend Pastor Roy Coleman and then worship with him and his congregation. After a long struggle with several health issues she passed away on September 1, 2019. Kathryn served the Lord throughout her life and is now resting in His arms never to suffer anymore.

Kathryn leaves to cherish her memories her sons Latrell (Shelly) Ware of Louisville, KY and Robert Thomas of St. Louis, MO; step-sons Marcell Thomas and Morris Thomas of Sacramento, CA; one sister, Allie Tapp of St. Louis, MO; three granddaughters, Lalah Ware, Nilah Ware, Jasmine Ware; nieces, Geravia "Buffy" Williams and Rakiyah "Krissy" Talavedra; nephews, Reuben "Bam Bam" Tapp, and Christopher "Charvey Mac" McLemore; great nieces, Donnita Williams, Paige Talavedra; and great nephews, Keith Williams, Kevin Williams & Javier Talavedra.
