Walter Louis West, Jr.

Walter Louis West, Jr., 76, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019. Walter was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lanesville where he was a member of the Building and Grounds Committee. He was also a member of the Pope John Paul II Council of the Knights of Columbus and the RDC Golf Group. Walter loved wine tours, golfing, hunting, visiting grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling, bowling, attending auctions, collecting antiques, and competing in road races.

He was born on November 19, 1942 in Corydon, Indiana to the late Walter, Sr. and Mary (O'brien) West. Along with his parents, Walter is preceded in death by his son, Brian Matthew West; sister, Roberta Martin; brother, Bernie West; and great-granddaughter, Ciara West.

Walter is survived by his loving wife, Linda Bevers West; children, Mark (Kim) West, Marie (Chris) Robertson, Karen (Craig) Salisbury, Michael (Lana) Bevers, Mark Bevers, Matthew (Cylee) Bevers, and Myron (Connie) Bevers; 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Christina (Junior) Stroud, Evelyn (Dallas) Hollrah, Paula Dirck, Rosetta (Darryl) Parker, and James (Alice) West.

Visitation will be from 1PM to 8PM on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany, with a Rosary Service starting at 6:30PM. There will be no additional visitation on Tuesday morning. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1PM on Tuesday, at St. Mary's Lanesville Catholic Church (2500 St. Mary's Drive, Northeast Lanesville, IN 47136) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family requests that contributions in Walter 's memory in lieu of flowers be made to St. Mary's Breaking Bread Food Pantry.
