James Reid, 71, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019. When James entered the Military the Army misspelled his name and forever after he became James Reed.
He was born on July 18, 1947 in Memphis, Tennessee to George and Loraine (Gaither) Reid. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George Reid Jr., Gerald Reid, and Douglas Reid, sisters, Loretta Pendleton, Brenda Russell, and Cecelia Reid, sister-in-laws, Teresa Gazaway, and Rita Gazaway.
James is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Linda Reed, son James Reed, daughters, Natasha Gazaway, Veronica Reed, and Latisha Gazaway, grandchildren, Jaque, Juwyn, Jaden, Naviyah, Tremayne, Journey, Justice, Brittany, Ashley, Jaymalyn, Gabrielle, Jamoonie, and soon to be born Semir, brothesr, Raymond (Gloria) Reid, and David Reid, brother-in-laws, Charles (Jan) Gazaway, and Robert (Susan) Gazaway, sister, Beverly (Kenneth) Ward, sister-in-laws, Sarah Reid, Nora Reid, Genny Reid, and Zina Gazaway, niece, Belinda Webb, James also leaves behind to cherish his memory close friends, Fred (Marian Drake) Mitchell along with a host of great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at St Stephens Baptist Church, 1018 South 15 Street, Louisville, KY. His Funeral Service with Military Honors will be held at 12 pm at the St Stephens Baptist Church.
