Mason Norman Ashby

Mason Norman Ashby, 94, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 13, 2019. He was a United States Army veteran that proudly served his country during WWII in the South Pacific Theater. Mason was a pipefitter by trade and a long-time member of Christ Gospel Church in Jeffersonville. He loved to sing and also play guitar.

He was born on March 27, 1924, in Bellport, Kentucky, to the late Steward and Carma (Paddock) Ashby. Mason was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Allen) Ashby; grandson, Leif Ashby; siblings, Thelma Tyler, Marcella Bristow, Harold Ashby, Majorie Konopka, and Lowell Ashby.

Mason is survived by his son, Steward Ashby (Bonnie); sister, Shirley Thomas; granddaughter, Freya Ashby; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his funeral service taking place at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
