Jack Edward Tolhurst, 81, of Borden, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018. He was a United States Army veteran and had a life-long career as an arborist. Jack never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand when others were in need. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid animal lover.
He was born on July 27, 1937, in Solvay, New York, to the late Raymond and Lillian (Bushnell) Tolhurst. Jack was also preceded in death by his brother, George Tolhurst.
Jack was the sunshine of his wife, Dorothy (Mathus) Tolhurst. Along with Dorothy, Jack is survived by his children, Susan Dickens, Raymond Tolhurst, James Self (Sharon), Jane Ritchey (Lonnie), Pat Montgomery, Debora See (Ed), and Darlene Davis; sisters, Betty Babilon and June Bisnette; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his four legged companions, Zoee and Jacob.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 111:00 a.m. His funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
