Betty Jean (Roberts) Wright, 85, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on August 14, 2018. She was a long-time volunteer at Floyd Memorial and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary. Betty was also a past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as the Grand Representative to the state of Arizona.
She was born on October 9, 1932, in Martinsburg, Indiana, to the late James and Margaret (Hosier) Roberts. Betty was also preceded in death by her husband, William H. Wright; son, Kenneth Wright; grandson, David Wright; son-in-law, David Sample; and brother, James Roberts.
Betty is survived by her children, William Wright (Karon), Lola Sample, and Brian Wright (Crystal); sister, Patricia Ellis (Harry); 10 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Monday after 9:00 a.m. Her Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Martinsburg Cemetery.
