Raymond Carl Lopp, 93, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Sunday morning, August 5, 2018. He bravely served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Ray was a member of the VFW Post 1693 Hobart Beach and Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
He was born on July 31, 1925, in Harrison County, Indiana, to the late Lorraine and Viola (Richard) Lopp. Ray was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Vera (Coomer) Lopp; grandson, Troy Byrd; and siblings, Glenn, Earl, Gene, Don, Florene, Louise, and Ruth.
Ray is survived by his daughters, Sandy Thomas (Bob) and Vickie Ricketts (Kevin); siblings, Maye Matthews, Bob, Ed, Sonny, and Stewart Lopp; grandchildren, Tonya Bishop (James), Robbie Thomas (Tammy), Douglas Byrd (Kristi), Phillip Byrd (Kelly), Missi Ricketts (David), and Tony Ricketts; great-grandchildren, Andy, Jacob, Clayton, McKenzie, Haley, McKenna, Ava, Brage, Taylor, Gavin, Kasey, and Bayli; and great-great-grandchildren, Paisley, Abilene, Zayden, and Julius.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 9:00 a.m. His Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018, in the chapel at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
