Joseph Edward Johnson

Joseph Edward Johnson, 70, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on April 5, 2018. Joe worked in the trucking industry for over 40 years. He retired in 2000 from Kentuckiana Trucking after over 15 years of service. He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, working in his garage, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Joe was born on November 17, 1947, to the late Joseph E. Johnson, Sr., and Nan G. (Smeltzer) Sandlin. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Barbara (Wittry) Johnson; and stepfather, Cecil Sandlin.

Joe is survived by his children, Danny Johnson (Tracy), Andy Johnson (Rebecca), and Melissa Mayfield (Jason); siblings, Kathy Wagner (Joe), Gail Sandlin, Debbie Daub, Mike Sandlin (Kim), Cherri Sandlin, and Cris Sandlin (Anna); and four grandchildren, Evan, Ryan, Vincent, and Karma.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation before from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at the funeral home with cremation to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society (701 West Muhammad Ali Boulevard, Louisville, Kentucky 40203).
