Elizabeth was born in Cardinal, Kentucky to the late Winnie Cooper and Will Smith. One of six children, she attended elementary school in Llewellyn, Kentucky, middle school in Cincinnati, Ohio and Rosenwald High School. She lived in Evarts, Kentucky raising her daughters until moving to Louisville, KY in 1976.
She was employed at Spaulding Cleaners and The Home of The Innocents until her retirement in 1983. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family was a main focus and priority and she always made sure they knew it.
She was a member of First Virginia Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. She loved working with the youth and signing in the gospel choir. Also, she enjoyed attending noon Bible study until her health began to decline.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory, five daughters, Tanya (Anthony) Allen, Letha Smith, Melanie Wilson, Stephanie (terry) Love, and Terri Smith. Also, five God-daughters, Tanya (Steven) Baker, Angela (William) Thomas, Shanna (Jacoby) Hinkle, Karla Sweet and Onterria (Steve) Mack. Fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Two very special friends, Robin Birch and Cynthia Wimberley and the most dearest and wonderful niece Marie (Bruce) Jackson, whom she loved very much and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 3, 2018, from 10am-12pm at First Virginia Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 3601 Virginia Avenue, Louisville, KY with a celebration of Elizabeth's life beginning at 12pm.
