Robert Earl "Bob" Coke, 74, of Louisville, KY passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018, with his eldest son by his side.
Bob was born April 5, 1943 in Lawrenceburg, KY and grew up in Louisville, KY. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1961. He worked 26 years at Ford Motor Company, working at both plants, later starting Coke Roofing. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and his passion was being a general contractor in Louisville and in Birmingham, AL.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents James Willis and Blondella Mae (Wells) Coke.
Bob is survived by his sons Tony (Patty), Kenny (Carol), and their mother Sharon (Glenn); James (Sandy), Steven (Meagan), and their mother Linda; grandchildren, Kasey, Julia, Henry, Carter, Tessa, Alex, and Vivian; brothers Charles, James (Deborah), and Glen (Donna). Bob also had family and friends in Birmingham, AL.
Bob made many friends throughout his life and was always willing to help others. He once received a key to the City of Louisville for saving several lives in a burning apartment complex. Bob enjoyed music, creative solutions for construction projects, and seeing what treasures he could find at various estate or auction sales.
The family would like to thank the excellent service provided by Hosparus of Louisville, Oaklawn Health & Rehab, Baptist East Hospital, and University of Louisville Brown Cancer Center.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions in Middletown at 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 19, 2018 at the funeral home with Burial in Lawrenceburg, KY.
Memorial donations may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society or Hosparus.
