Cynthia Anne Weaver-Mazer, 58, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017.
Cyndy was born on January 29, 1959 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She went to Michigan State University where she taught and competed in Judo as a brown belt and graduated in 1981 with her BS in both Chemistry and Math and received her education certification. She married Mark Mazer on May 31, 1986. Cyndy loved the Arts and supported them in every way she could. She was President of the Floyd Central Star Boosters supporting the theatre, and started the Floyd Central Star Singers and Ringers the parent volunteer group for choir and handbells. She volunteered at the high school well after her daughters graduated. Cyndy also managed the volunteers at the Kentucky Center and volunteered at New Albany High School theatre department. Cyndy was selfless in dedicating her time to others and she will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Mark Mazer; daughters, Christa Mazer, Melissa Valentino (David) and Kyleigh Mazer; mother, Gretchen Weaver; brothers, Howard Weaver (Kim) and Mark Weaver; and her sister, Jennifer Johnston (Mark). She is preceded in death by her father, Howard L. "Vern" Weaver.
Visitation will be from 1 PM to 6 PM on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). Her Funeral Service will follow at 6 PM at the funeral home. A memorial scholarship has been set up in her name for the theatre students of Floyd Central and New Albany High Schools.
