James Harold "Jimmy" Scrivner, Sr., 81, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Sunday afternoon, September 3, 2017. He served his country in the Air National Guard and was a retired Sergeant for the Louisville Fire Department. Jimmy was also a builder, never shying away from hard work. He was a strong spiritual leader, provider, and protector of his entire family.
He was born on September 20, 1935 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Charles Edward and Prudie (Turner) Scrivner. Jimmy was also preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Scrivner.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret (Allen) Scrivner; children, James Scrivner, Jr. (Olga), Kirk Scrivner (Cathy), Regina Scrivner Tibbs (Fran), Glenn Scrivner (Karen), Jonathan Scrivner (Denise), Raymonda Stevens (Olu); sister, Vivian Barbour; 12 grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
Visitation will be from 10 AM to 12 PM on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his Funeral Service taking place at 12 PM. Burial will follow at West Haven Cemetery in New Albany.
