Magen Shianne Cottrell

Magen Shianne Cottrell, 29, passed away on April 30, 2017. She was an extraordinary person and was always putting others first. Magen's passion was to help others that were less fortunate. She was her dad's rock, back bone and the light of his life; her mom's strength, hope and the source of all things good. Magen was Ryan's hero and he admired her strength and determination. To know Magen was to love her.


She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shaylyn Grace Shirley; grandmother, Mildred Martin; uncle, Max Cottrell and grandfather, George Arthur Cottrell.

Magen is survived by her parents, Carl Cottrell and Paula Martin; brother, Ryan Cottrell; grandfather, Joseph Martin; grandmother, Bettie (Steve) Pimential; niece, Peyton Cottrell; nephew, Ryker Cottrell; aunts, Patricia, Kathy, and Becky; uncles, Allen, Steve, Jessie, John, and Carl; numerous cousins and Shaylyn's father, Chris Shirley.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY) from 10am-8pm. A celebration of Magen's life will be Friday, May 5, 2017, beginning at 11:30am at the chapel of Newcomer Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Kings Church New Cemetery (989 Kings Church Road, Mt. Washington, KY).
