James Raymond Nalty, 90, passed away on February 14, 2017. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, graduate of The Pittsburg Art Institute. Jim was a brilliant artist, and set designer at WHAS. He also designed neon signs. He loved to sing and was well known for his beautiful voice and his love of dancing. Jim had a great love of all animals, and he enjoyed helping through Alley Cat Foundation and The Humane Society.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Nalty; parents, James and Josephine Nalty; sons, Dennis Nalty and Father James Brabandt; sisters, Vivian Westfall, Adele Nalty and Martha Rausch.
James is survived by his daughter, Denise (Richard Barber) Shockley; Gabrielle Kays; sons, Richard (Mary Ann) Brabandt and Thomas (Donna) Brabandt; sister, Joyce (John) Link, brother-in-law, Wes Westfall; grandchildren, Sarah (Scott) Goff, Julia (James) Popp, Joseph (Crystal) Shockley, Paul Shockley, Gabrielle (Jason) Kays, Whitney (Imran) Kays, and Annie Vinson; beautiful step grandchildren, Teri Chambers, Michael, Chris, and Mark Brabandt, Jeremy and Stephen Brabandt; great-grandchildren, Andrew Shockley, Luke Shockley, Brianna McDonald, Raquel Shockley, Joseph McDonald, Ashton McDonald, Chloe Workman and Jasen Workman, nieces, nephews and beloved extended family, Jeanette and Jim Kays, the Kays family and Mary Ellen (Tom) Hoke.
A gathering will be Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY) from 1pm-3pm with a celebration of James' life beginning at 3pm.
