Minnie M. Brown, 84 of Louisville, Kentucky departed this life on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. She was born on January 6, 1933 in Friars Point, Mississippi to the late John and Myrtle Lathan.
Doing her life, Minnie loved her family and friends, and was active in her church in Friars Point. She met her husband, Alexander, at an early age and later they married and began their family. The military was the career that Alexander chose, and he and Minnie traveled extensively with their children. As his career came to an end, the family settled in Louisville where Minnie became active in the church. For years she has been a devoted member of the Meadowlawn Baptist Church in Valley Station. She made many friends, participated in the various church activities as well as taught Vacation Bible School.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alexander Brown, Sr. and her son Cavin Brown, sisters Elizabeth Brantley, Bessie Stewart and brothers Jack, John, Sam, Leroy and Huie Lathan.
Minnie is survived by her children, Bobby Brown, John E. Brown (Iris), Connie Patterson, Terry Brown and Alexander Brown, Jr. (Clo); sisters Audrey Young, Shirley Rials, and brother Lloyd Lathan; grandchildren Nicholas Whiteside (LaKeya), Candace Berry (Shawn), Francis Brown, Stephen Brown, Ashley Gholson (John), Quenten and Marcus Patterson, Jacqueline and Alexander Brown, III, several great grandchildren, and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation for Minnie will be held at 10:00 a.m., and funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 8th at the Meadowlawn Baptist Church, 12103 E. Orell Road., Valley Station, Kentucky 40272. Burial will follow services at Bethany Memorial Cemetery, 10917 Dixie Highway, Valley Station, Kentucky 40272.
