Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Miller, age 74 of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017. Bobbie was a 1959 graduate of the Lincoln Institute and graduated from Tucker Beauty and Barber College in 1962. She worked for the Kroger Corporate office for almost 20 years. In 2003, she was designated as a Black Achiever. Bobbie loved people and helping others, including her work with Dare to Care. She was a 56 year member of First Baptist Church of Jeffersontown and also a member of Burnett Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her son, Troy L. Miller; her parents, John and Elsie Mae Burks Owens; and her sister, Nora Fleming.
Bobbie is survived by her siblings, Alvin Owens (Janie), Mattie Haskins (Milton), Ronald Owens (Catherine), Lucille Owens and Patricia Owens; her special niece, Tricia Calvin-Jay (Scott); her special great-nephew who was like a grandchild to her, Adam Laroussi; grandchildren, Sebastian Miller and Veronica Miller; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held 11am-1pm on Monday, February 6, 2017 followed by a celebration of Bobbie's life at 1pm at Burnett Avenue Baptist Church 6800 S Hurstbourne Pkwy, Louisville, KY.
Memorials may be made to Burnett Avenue Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
