Sherry Ann Hunter

Sherry Ann Hunter, 73, of New Albany, Indiana passed peacefully on Saturday evening December 17, 2016 surrounded by her family and friends. For over 40 years she was a beautician and the owner of Michelle's in downtown New Albany. Sherry recently retired from Walgreens on Spring Street in New Albany. She was a member of the VFW Post 1693 Ladies Auxiliary as well as the 40 & 8 Club.

She was born on October 5, 1943 in New Albany to the late Roy Hunter and Elaine (Babbs) Bowman. Sherry was preceded in death by her step-father, Shirl Bowman and granddaughter, Sheena Ann Edmonds Fancher.

Sherry is survived by her daughter, Teresa Huber; step-mother, Eloise Hunter; siblings, Alisha Bowman Coomer, Wayne Bowman, Brenda Hunter, Linda Hunter Cordy, Michael Hunter; grandchildren, Taylor Johnson (fiancée Ryan Trendel), Nick Johnson, Andrew Johnson; great-granddaughter, Payton Fancher; close friend and neighbor, Rosie Smith; and many nieces, nephews, and good friends.

Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana) and on Thursday after 11 AM. Her Funeral Service will be at 1 PM Thursday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Sherry's memory be made to the Sherry Hunter/Sheena Ann Fancher Scholarship Fund in care of New Albany High School (1020 Vincennes Street, New Albany, IN 47150).
