Maud "Teenie" Green, 86, of Louisville, passed away on November 27, 2016. She acknowledged Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was a member of Meadowlawn Baptist Church. She graduated from Central High School and worked in the healthcare industry before working for and retiring from Frito Lay.
On October 15, 1949, Maud was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Johnnie Green, Sr. who affectionately coined her commonly known nickname "Teenie". They were lovingly married for 52 years until his death in December of 2001. To this union four children were born.
A devoted wife, Teenie spent several years in Europe with her husband during his time in the US Army. Teenie was an outstanding hostess and the family home of Teenie and Johnnie Green was the site of many dinner parties and backyard barbecues attended by family and friends. Teenie was a loving and devoted mother to her children. In her declining years, she displayed remarkable personal strength and endurance often prompting her admiring children to describe her as "A Strong Little Birdie".
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Green, Sr.; daughter and first born child, Johnnetta G. Brewer; granddaughter, Donielle Whitehead; siblings, Maime Louise Miller, Patsy Jackson, Willie Mae Miller and Logan Oliver Miller.
Teenie is survived by her children, Johnnie Green, Jr., Byran E. Green and Antonio (Rhonda) Green; siblings, Norma (Perry) Bedinger and Ward (Cornelia) Miller, Jr.; son-in-law, Harry Brewer; grandchildren, Markena (Tory) Brewer Hill and Harry Jason Brewer, Sr. and great-grandchildren, Bryson Brewer and Harry Jason Brewer, Jr. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, good friends and step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 4, 2016, from 3pm-7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway). A celebration of Teenie's life will be Monday, December 5, 2016, at 11am at Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Louisville Chapel.
Burial will follow at Green Meadows Cemetery, 3800 Shanks Lane, Louisville, KY.
