Cora Lee Hunter

September 21, 1934 — October 23, 2016

It was early Sunday morning on October 23, 2016 when our beloved mother, grandmother and sister departed this world, surrounded by her loving family singing "When I See Jesus". Amen! Evangelist Cora Lee Hunter, known as "Queen Cora", was one of seven children born to the union of the late Tommy and Mary Lou Reed on September 21, 1934, in Pulaski, Tennessee. She accepted Christ at an early age, and received her calling to the Gospel Ministry at Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she was licensed and ordained. During the life of her ministry she received her Master's Degree in Christian Counseling. She was a student of God's Word, and a Woman of Courage and Faith. She retired after 40 years in the Nursing Profession. She was a member of The LaGrange Presbyterian Church under the pastorship of Albert Earley, until she began and formed Soul-seekers Christian Ministry until failing health forced her to retire. She returned after retirement to work as a Foster Granny for eleven years. She was the wife of the late Pastor George Hunter, and to that Union was born nine children. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Phillip and Melvin Hunter; brothers, James and Albert Reed; and her sister, Minnie Pearl Reed.

Cora Lee is survived by her children, Harold Hunter (Mattie), Jerry Hunter (Mattie), Jessie Hunter (Shontil), Julia Hunter-McMillan (Thomas), George Hunter (Juvy), Phyllis Hunter-Pye and Leonard Hunter (Amy); step-son, Gadara Goodloe (Sombot); siblings, Annie Ruth Blackshear (Ralph), Eugene Reed (Erma) and Joe Reed (Louise); many grand-children, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-9pm Friday, October 28, 2016 at Christ Temple Christian Life Center, 723 South 45th Street, Louisville, KY., and on Saturday from 10:30am to 11am. The service will be held at 11am Saturday at the church. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

One of her favorite verses was Psalms 27:4, "One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in His temple."

Memorials may be made to Dare to Care or the American Red Cross.
